Effective mitigation depends on the foundation zones and pressure field

Radon systems are planned around slab sections, crawl spaces, additions, footing separations, sump locations, accessible suction points, fan placement, discharge routing, electrical supply, and the route through or around finished areas. A visually similar pipe layout can perform differently in two homes because the sub-slab material and foundation communication are different. Sandison evaluates the building before selecting suction locations and explains any access or sealing work that affects the design.

Post-mitigation testing confirms performance; appearance alone does not

The installed fan, piping, labels, manometer, sealed penetrations, discharge location, and electrical connection are visible parts of the system, but the result must be checked with an appropriate follow-up radon test. Weather, building operation, test placement, and test duration can affect a reading. Sandison distinguishes installation workmanship from the independent measurement used to verify reduction and avoids promising a result before the building and completed system are tested.

Can I tell whether a home has a radon problem by looking at it?

Radon cannot be identified by smell or appearance. A properly conducted test provides the information needed to evaluate mitigation.

Why might similar houses need different radon systems?

Slab sections, crawl spaces, additions, sumps, and how air moves beneath the foundation affect system design. Those conditions determine the appropriate suction points and routing.

How do I know whether mitigation has lowered the radon level?

An appropriate post-mitigation radon test checks the result. The fan and operating indicator are useful parts of system monitoring, but their appearance alone does not establish the radon level.
