The evaluation identifies the service rating, conductors, meter and service equipment, main disconnect, panel bus and breakers, grounding and bonding, available circuit spaces, large fixed appliances, heating and cooling equipment, and the loads expected from planned work. Nameplate totals are not simply added together; the applicable load method and equipment use matter. A crowded or damaged panel may require correction even when capacity is adequate, while a sound smaller service may support a planned load through a different design. No homeowner should remove a panel cover or approach damaged energized equipment to collect website information.

Replacing the interior panel is not always the same project as increasing the service capacity.
